On Monday March 16th, 2020, CU*NorthWest activated its “Large Scale Absence Policy” for CU*NorthWest teams. 80% of the CU*NorthWest team members began working remotely and will remain in that posture until further notice. Onsite and in-person activity is suspended for all non-essential projects until further notice based on national and regional mandates regarding essential service and infrastructure workers. Critical and time sensative projects that require staff travel both in and outside our region, will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and evaluated against the approved exception criteria as defined at both the regional and national level.

Date: April 16, 2020, RE: Trump Announces “Opening Up America Again” plan.

Posting: On April 16, 2020 President Trump Announced “Opening Up America Again” plan.

Response: CU*NorthWest is reviewing the plan and will follow all employer related requirements as defined by the plan and initiated by state and local guidance.

Date: April 14, 2020, Washington State Governor Inslee Modifies State of Emergency Proclamation.

Posting: On April 13, 2020, Governor Inslee Modified his State of Emergency order to include additional rights for high-risk employees.  The order remains in effect thru June 12, 2020.

Response:  CU*NorthWest is already in compliance with the proclamation and we will continue to follow all requirements for high-risk employees.

Date: April 7, 2020, RE: CU*NorthWest updates Social Distancing Policy

Posting: On Friday, April 3, 2020, The Whitehouse Coronavirus Task Force, along with the CDC recommended the use of face masks in situations where social distancing of 6 feet could not be practiced.

Resonse: CU*NorthWest has revised its Social Distancing Policy to include the mandate that onsite employees must wear a mask when social distancing of 6 feet is not possible.

Date: April 1, 2020, RE: Families First Coronavirus Response Act

Posting: On March 14, 2020 the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (The Act) passed the U.S. House of Representatives.  On March 18, 2020, The Act was passed by U.S. Senate and signed by the President.  The emergency benefits begin on April 1, 2020 and expire on December 31, 2020.

Response:  On April 1, 2020 CU*NorthWest notified all staff by supplying the digital compliance poster via email and physical compliance poster in each breakroom of the emergency benefits included in the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

Date: 3/29/2020, RE: President Trump extended Guidelines To Slow Coronavirus

Posting: On March 29, 2020, President Trump Extended guidelines to slow coronavirus.  Trump told country to “stick with the plan” for another month, until April 30, 2020.

Response:  CU*NorthWest is currently in compliance with guidelines and will continue with remote work environment.

Date: 3/25/2020, RE: Idaho Governor Brad Little announced state side “Stay Home” order.

Posting:  On March 25, 2020 Governor Little announced that effective today, March 25, 2020, all individuals living in the State of Idaho must stay home or at their place of residence. 

Response:  CU*NorthWest has reminded employees that we are an “essential business” and as such, those employees approved to go onsite will still be allowed to do so.  An “Essential Employee” letter was distributed on March 24, 2020 to approved onsite employees.

Date: 3/22/2020, RE: Governor Inslee Announces WA State "Stay Home, Stay Healthy"" order effective 3/25/2020

Posting:  On March 23, 2020 Governor Inslee announced that effective March 25, 2020,  all individuals living in the State of Washington must stay home or at their place of residence.

Response:  CU*NorthWest sent notice to Washington clients that we are available to assist with product offerings, SSL VPN connections, and managed firewalls.  CU*NorthWest began placing calls with each Washington client last week in anticipation of this announcement.

CU*NorthWest qualifies as an “essential service” and approved employees will continue to be able to access onsite facilities as needed. In addition, CU*NorthWest has re-sent notice to employees that our Large-Scale absence policy and social distancing policies are still in place. 

Date: 3/20/2020, RE: Governor Inslee Announces Increased Requirement Around Bio-Security in Workplace

Posting: On March 20, 2020 Governor Inslee mandated that Washington State employers allow employees 65 years of age & over and immune compromised employees work from home or not be required to work in office.  In addition, Governor Inslee required frequent cleaning of workplace space as well as continued adherence to social distancing.

Response:  Effective immediately, CU*NorthWest will require 2 deep cleanings per day in all occupied onsite work spaces. Also, CU*NorthWest currently complies with the remote work environment for all staff as well as those within designated age and health ranges. 

Date: 3.19.2020, RE: California orders “Stay Home”

Posting: On March 19, 2020 the California State Public Health Officer and the Director of the California Department of Health ordered all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence until further notice.

Response: CU*NorthWest sent notice to California clients that we are available to assist with product offerings, SSL VPN connections, and managed firewalls.  CU*NorthWest will be placing calls with each California client beginning today.

Date: 3/19/2020, RE: Families First Coronavirus Response Act

Posting: On March 14, 2020 the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (The Act) passed the U.S. House of Representatives.  On March 18, 2020, The Act was passed by U.S. Senate and signed by the President.  The emergency benefits expire on December 31, 2020.

Response:  CU*NorthWest sent a summary flyer to staff outlining Paid Leave as provided in The Act.  In addition, CU*NorthWest sent employees a notice explaining that CU*NorthWest is currently reviewing The Act and will comply with requirements by April 1, 2020.

Date: 3/17/2020, RE: Social Distancing Policy Revision

Posting:  President Trump, along with CDC, recommends limiting groups to 10 people and increasing distance between people from 3’-6’.

Response:  CU*NorthWest revised Social distancing Policy from 3’ to 6’.  Based on information from CDC, and Washington State Department of Health, a new document titled “What To Do If Exposed” has been created and shared with staff.

Date: 3/16/2020, RE: CU*NorthWest Cancels In-Person Events

Posting: March 13, 2020, President Donald Trump announces National Emergency.  Governor Inslee announces statewide school closures and based on new CDC recommendation- expansion of limits on large gatherings.

March 16, 2020, based on CDC social distancing recommendation, Governor Inslee limited gatherings to under 50, and announced statewide closures of restaurants, bars, and events that fall outside of gathering limitations.

March 16, 2020 CDC recommends organizers cancel or postpone events with 50 people or more for 8 weeks.

Response: CU*NorthWest formally canceled all in-person events through May 2020. 

Effective March 16,2020, CU*NorthWest Social Distancing policy enforced.  Eighty percent of workforce is remote.  Communication regarding remote work environment shared with Network Partners and clients.

Date: 3/12/2020, RE: Social Distancing Policy

Posting:  March 11, 2020, based on CDC recommendation, Governor Inslee issues emergency proclamation that limits large events (under 150 people), to minimize public health risk during COVID-19. 

Response:  Based on recommendations by CDC, WHO, and WA State Department of Health, CU*NorthWest issues new Social Distancing Policy (effective 3/16), requiring non-essential staff work form home, all meetings to Zoom or conference call, any staff remaining in office will be required to keep 3’ distance between seats and work spaces, restrict all travel unless deemed mandatory by CEO. Cancel all in-person events.

Date: 3/6/2020, RE: Workplace Guidelines

Posting: WA State Governor, Jay Inslee, along with CDC posted new workplace guidelines.

Reponse: CU*NorthWest has complied with new workplace guidelines, including mandating employees notify employer of and sickness resulting from travel.  CU*NorthWest also strongly encourages sick employees to stay home and not come to work for 72 hours after fever and symptoms are gone (whichever is longer).  CU*NorthWest is not requiring a healthcare provider’s notes for employees who are sick with acute respiratory illness to validate their illness or to return to work.

CU*NorthWest posted updated posters in public places with CDC recommendations for handwashing, social distancing, and disinfecting.

Date: 3/5/2020, RE: Pandemic Testing

Posting:  CU*NorthWest held Pandemic Testing

Response:  CU*NorthWest conducted large-scale remote work environment as outlined in Section 7.0 of the CU*NorthWest Policy Manual. To test CU*NorthWest had 80% of its staff work at remote locations and continue to support clients and program.

Test results were excellent, resulting in minor issues with connection.  All connection issues were resolved within 30 minutes.

Date: 3/3/2020, RE: Pandemic Planning Meeting

Posting: On February 29, 2020, Washington State Governor Jay Inslee provides statement on death in WA state from COVID-19.

Response: CU*NorthWest Scheduled Pandemic Planning Meeting for Incident Response Team on March 3, 2020.  Resulting from the meeting we created a document that outline our Pandemic Plan as well as identified testing protocol of large-scale remote working environments.  

Phones in office, for remote client service representatives and techs, were forwarded to personal cell phones for testing.  Forwarding was tested to ensure success in advance of the scheduled Large-scale pandemic testing.

Sanitizer stations were ordered for each department, and tissues for each employee to assist with covering coughs and sneezes.  Installation of sanitizer stations scheduled for March 4, 2020.

Large-scale pandemic testing has been scheduled for March 5, 2020.

Date: 3/1/2020, RE: First Case of COVID-19

Posting: On January 19, 2020, the CDC and Washington State Department of Health announced the first case of COVID-19 in Washington State.

Response:  CU*NorthWest posted flyers in all public areas throughout organization that provided helpful tips in fighting Flu and Coronavirus.  The flyer included handwashing, keeping hands from face, cleaning and disinfecting, covering coughs and sneezes with tissue, and advice to stay home if sick.
